The Canada Soccer Association intends to use the Toulon Tournament to prepare the new generation

The Canadians will make their first ever appearance at the Toulon Tournament this summer from the 26th May to 9th June.

The young Canadians will have the opportunity to test themselves against nations from all across the world. Their performances will be monitored closely by the Canada senior national team head coach John Herdman.

This is a prestigious youth tournament in France that will provide our tracking Men's EXCEL players with an opportunity to be fully tested against tier-one opponents. We will use these matches to assess the current EXCEL group as we prepare for upcoming CONCACAF youth competitions. The matches will also help identify a group of young players to be targeted for closer monitoring and tracking as we look to the future of our Men’s National Team program”, he said to the Canada Soccer Association official website.

Canada will come in the south of France with a squad largely composed of local players. However, some young talents who are currently playing in Europe like Ballou Jean-Yves Tabla, signed recently by FC Barcelona, and Liam Millar, the Liverpool highly-rated forward, could be selected for the Toulon Tournament.
