Focus on... Hakim Ouro-Sama, the Togolese cornerstone

The Toulon Tournament is fast approaching. To wait patiently until the beginning of the 46th edition of the competition (from 26th May to 9th June), let’s take a look at the players who could shine during the Maurice Revello Tournament 2018. Today, we talk about : Hakim Ouro-Sama, center back of Togo and AS Togo Port.

The young 20 years-old centre back starts his career like a rocket. Hakim Ouro-Sama plays for AS Togo Port since his professional debuts. He appears on the starting team and also participates to the African Champions League. He doesn’t stop there, as he is now also a part of first team of Togo. After getting into the U20 on 2014, he is called-up for the first time with the national team two years later against Uganda. First selection and first win, 1-0.

Hakim Ouro-Sama takes part then to the African Cup of Nations 2017 organised in Gabon. Today, the player counts 15 selections with his country. For the Tournament, the defender will wear the captain’s armband. « This is heavy to wear, I represent my nation, therefore I have big responsabilities. I have to be irreproachable on every level. I will try to bring my experience and do everything I can to lead the team to the victory », he said to us after a training session at Plan-de-Cuques, where the team settled.

The Festival is also the occasion for him to reveal his talent to the football world. « The Tournament is a showcase for us. On a personal level, I need to play well to catch the scouts’ eyes. On a team level, our goal is to go as far as we can, to give everything on the pitch and stay focus », he said with determination.

Claude Le Roy, Togo’s first team headcoach, calls him on a regular basis and certainly has the ambition to appoint him as the future central back of the team. Known for his speed, his discipline but also for his serenity and rigour, he has precious advantages on which Togo can count for the Maurice Revello Tournament. « I am proud to take part to this tournament, the atmosphere is very good and this is an honor for Togo to take part in this big international competition for the first time. This is a chance for us to be here », concludes Hakim Ouro-Sama with determination.
