Kerly Théus, flag bearer for the Haitian new wave

CONCACAF has revealed over the last days the list of nominees for the goalkeeper of the year award. Alongside big names like Stephanie Labbie and Alyssa Naeher, respectively goalkeepers of the Canada and USA national teams, we find a keeper seen at the Sud Ladies Cup 2018 : Kerly Théus.

This nomination caps a remarkable year for the 19-year-old goalkeeper. By finishing third at the CONCACAF U20 championship on January, Haiti became the first Caribbean nation ever to qualify for a Women’s World Cup at any level ! Théus played a key role in this historic performance as she has notably kept a clean sheet during the decisive game against Canada (1-0).

Key player of Haiti U20, Théus has obviously made the plane to France for the World Cup U20 held on August. If the Caribbean side faced a group stage exit, It was the opportunity for the whole squad to earn once again an experience at the international level, few months after taking part in the CONCACAF U20 and the Sud Ladies Cup.

Whatever the result of the vote for the CONCACAF the goalkeeper of the year award, this nomination is already a success for the Aigle Brillant AC player.
