The Haitians are enjoying one of the most remarkable stories in the history of women’s football. Haiti secured a spot for the upcoming World Cup U20 by clinching the third place at the CONCACAF U20 Championship and became the first Caribbean nation ever to qualify for a Women’s World Cup at any level !
The striker Nerilia Mondesir played a key role in this achievement as she scored 4 goals during the tournament. “It’s a dream to play the World Cup. We were clearly the underdogs at the CONCACAF U20 but we have succeed to book our ticket for the World Cup”, said the Montpellier HSC player.
The Sud Ladies Cup will be the perfect foretaste of the World Cup for Haiti as they will have the opportunity to test themselves against Gemarny (10th June), one of their opponents during the World Cup group stage.
