Kanatsizkus offers the bronze medal to Turkey

At the end of a tough game, the Turkish get the third place of the tournament in the Stadium Francis Turcan of Martigues.

It was an intense duel between Scotland and Turkey. And at this little game, Turkish were stronger and clinched the 3rd place of the 2018 Maurice Revello Tournament.

Both teams observed each other along the fourty first minutes. Following a tackle from Hamilton on Eskihellac, a brawl started between both teams (7’). Mr. Rudolf, the Canadian referee for the game, gave a yellow card to both players to calm the atmosphere. The game was launched.

The first half was balanced. The game was tactical. The Turkish managed more the game. They got the ball but the transmissions were slowed by some technical mistakes. We had to wait for the 15th minute to see the first shot. It came from the Turkish midfielder Atakan Cankaya. The first opportunity came a minute later. The right back Savas Polat get the ball back and passed wide to Baris Alici. The Turkish winger outpaced his opponent but Doohan, the Scottish keeper, deflected the ball.

Victory after the penalty shoot out

The second half started on a high intensity. Muzaffer Bilazer’s men dominated and Alican Ozfesli put himself under the sportlights. The number 10 shot powerfully just right near the post of Roos Doohan’s goal. The Tartan Army replied with a dangerous free-kick. Watt took it and forced Bayindir to do a beautiful save. (52’). At the 59th minute, the Scottish were close to take the lead. Harvey St Clair get into the penalty area and was stopped after a solo play. Mr. Rudolf gave a penalty. St Clair took it but missed the opportunity to give his team the lead in the game.

The entrances of Gilmour (54’), Hornby (60’), Johnston (67’) and Burke (70’) invigorated the Scottish selection. The Scot Gemmill’s men took the possession back and tried to accelerate. They played in the opponent side and pressed the Turkish without finding the solution. The construction was good but the last gesture lacked. The penalty shoot out will decide for a winner. Oliver Burke missed his attempt. Kubilay Kanatsizkus gave the victory to his team. The Turkish leave France with the bronze medal.
