Flores, Perez, Khelifi... the Sud Ladies Cup graduates burst onto the international scene

The last international break at the end of February allowed some of the players who had played in the Sud Ladies Cup to make their senior national debut. Overview of the young neo-internationals.

The Sud Ladies Cup may be a very young competition, but it already counts among its former participants several A-team internationals. And the last break in February allowed five of them to join this contingent, which will continue to grow in the future.

Four Mexican experienced their first steps with their senior national team. Among them, Silvana Flores. The best player of the Sud Ladies Cup 2019 had already been called up in December of the same year but she didn't play, which delayed her first cap. This is now a fact, as Monica Vergara, the coach of the Mexican team at the Sud Ladies Cup, gave her her first minutes in the senior side against Costa Rica in a friendly game (0-0). The beginning of 2021 was decidedly turbulent for the midfielder, who has just left Chelsea to join Reading.

Like Silvana Flores, Nicole Perez also made her debut with Mexico's A team. Still facing Costa Rica in a friendly but three days earlier (3-1), the player from Guadalajara made her debut with "El Tri". Another former Sud Ladies Cup player, Alison Gonzalez had the chance to take part in both games against the Costa Rican. The striker came into the game each time, but unfortunately she couldn't find the way to the net. Finally, the last Mexican neo-international, Reyna Reyes. The defender, named in the team of the tournament after the Sud Ladies Cup 2019, was launched during the draw against Costa Rica.

In Europe, the French Léa Khelifi, who went through the Sud Ladies Cup 2018, also became an A international in February. Like Silvana Flores, the Dijon player was also called up but did not play, in August and then in November 2019. She therefore had to wait almost two years to have her first cap. Her happiness came on 23 February, when she played in a friendly against Switzerland (2-0).
