40 Maurice Revello Tournament graduates became senior internationals in 2022

Each international break is the opportunity for several Maurice Revello Tournament graduates to earn their first international cap at the senior level. In 2022, they were exactly 40 to make their national team debut.

2022 was synonymous with international debut for several Maurice Revello Tournament graduates. One of them has even earned his first cap during… the World Cup in Qatar ! This is the Maurice Revello Tournament 2018 graduate and Monaco defender Alex Disasi who played his first game with Les Bleus during the group stage game against Tunisia (0-1).

Few days earlier, Gonçalo Ramos has played his first game with Portugal on the eve of the World Cup on mid-November, during the friendly against Nigeria. The rest is history : in early December, for his first ever start with his national team, the Benfica wonderkid has netted a stunnig hat-trick against Switzerland (6-1) in the World Cup last 16 !

A fellow countryman who took part in this memorable win against Switzerland has also made his Portugal debut in 2022 : Vitinha. It was on last March during the World Cup qualifier against North Macedonia (2-0).

For the other new senior internationals who played the Maurice Revello Tournament in the past, their first cap earned in 2022 is maybe the starting point of a journey that will lead them to the next World Cup in 2026 : Marc Guéhi (England), Reo Hatate (Japan), Wilfried Kanga (Ivory Coast) or Williams Alarcon (Chile), all dream about that being part of the planetary event in four years…
