Barnes, James, Nketiah… The ten to watch this season in Premier League

While the summer transfer market has just closed its doors, it is now time to take a look at the Maurice Revello Tournament graduates who could make a name for themselves this season in Premier League. From Rayan Aït-Nouri to Aaron Ramsdale, here is our list of ten players !

Rayan Aït-Nouri (Wolverhampton)

Signed by Wolves this summer from French side Angers SCO in a loan deal with option to buy, the left-back is seen as one of the most promising players of his generation. Technically gifted, fast, able to make countless runs on his side, the Maurice Revello Tournament 2019 graduate has everything to succeed in England. Especially in a club where young players have the opportunity to show their talent.

Harvey Barnes (Leicester City)

Can the English youngster keep the momentum going ? After enjoying a promising season in Premier League (36 games, 6 goals during the last campaign), the 22-year will be in the centre of attention. Not enough to disturb him if we judge his start to the season : four league games started, one goal. And most importantly : a first appearance with the England senior team against Wales on Thursday (3-0).

Helder Costa (Leeds United)

At 26, the Portuguese winger is not described anymore as a youngster. However, he will be one of the players to follow this season in the English top-flight. Under the guidance of Marcelo Bielsa, the dashing winger will be in charge of threatening the opponents and he started his season pretty well : four games started, two goals.

Ruben Dias (Manchester City)

After spending three seasons at Benfica, the Portuguese defender has decided to move on as he joined Manchester City where he’s is highly-regarded by Pep Guardiola. The latter hopes that his new signing will bring his qualities to the Citizens defensive line.

Eberechi Eze (Crystal Palace)

After giving headaches to the Championship defenses, the midfielder will play this season in the Premier League. His direct style of play and dribbling ability could be a real asset for Crystal Palace who signed him from Queens Park Rangers in a €18M-deal. The Maurice Revello Tournament 2019 graduate has already started two games with the Glaziers.

Reece James (Chelsea)

After forcing his way into the Chelsea first team, the right-back will try to cement his place in the Blues starting XI. He seems to satisfy his coach Frank Lampard as he already started three Premier League games, scoring one goal against Brighton. Meanwhile, he has caught the eye of the England head coach Gareth Southgate who handed him his full international debut on Thursday against Wales (3-0).

Nampalys Mendy (Leicester City)

Is this the Nampalys Mendy’s return to prominence ? In four Premier League games this season, the midfielder has already played more minutes than during the last campaign.  The former Nice player has started every Premier League game this season with the Foxes. After struggling during the previous seasons, Mendy could turn into a pivotal player for Leicester under Brendan Rodgers.

Jayson Molumby (Brighton)

A player to monitor for the future. If he hasn’t made a single appearance in the Premier League yet, the midfielder earned his first international cap with Ireland on September against Finland (0-1). The Maurice Revello Tournament 2019 fourth best player has shone for his first game on the international scene. It’s safe to say that the Brighton manager Graham Potter will probably give him some opportunities to play during this campaign given the technical and physical abilities of the Ireland new boy.

Eddie Nketiah (Arsenal)

Fast, efficient front of the goal, comfortable on the ball… the 21-year-old is without doubt a talented player. If he’s still not a starter for Arsenal, Nketiah is the undisputed number one striker of the England U21 squad : in 11 games, he netted 13 goals ! Maybe that can help him to establish himself at Arsenal where he appeared in every game since the start to the season.

Aaron Ramsdale (Sheffield United)

Sheffield United made a splash by spending around €20M this summer to lure the Bournemouth keeper. This is the price to pay to sign Ramsdae who shone last season despite the relegation of his side. This year, the Premier League strikers will have to face him again.
