Silvana Flores earned her first ever Mexico call-up !

Only few months after winning the Sud Ladies Cup 2019 best player award, Silvana Flores has been called-up to the Mexico senior national team for the first time.  At only 17 !

Elegant with the ball, real leader, Silvana Flores has impressed the observers during the Sud Ladies Cup 2019. "The gifted Arsenal midfielder has never been put in a difficult position during the Sud Ladies Cup 2019. Thanks to her vista, she has lighted up the competition and won a deserved best player award." That was our commentary to explain her inclusion in the Sud Ladies Cup best XI as well as her best player award.

This commentary written on last May makes more sense today as the Arsenal midfielder has been called-up to the Mexico senior national team for the first time this week.

The Mexico head coach Christopher Cuellar has selected the 17-year-old player for the double fixture against Brazil (9 and 16 December) even if the Sud Ladies Cup 2019 best player hasn't played yet at the professional level.

The faith shown by Cuellar in Flores illustrates the potential of the Mexican youngster. Except her solid performances at the World Cup U17 in 2018, Flores made a name for herself during the Sud Ladies Cup notably thanks to a surprising maturity for her age.

« Playing at Arsenal helps me a lot in this matter. I learn to not being afraid and to play with my body especially in the English league where you have to be very strong physically. I'm not afraid to commit myself on the pitch", explained the Mexican starlet few months ago in an exclusive interview given to the Sud Ladies Cup website.

A strength of character that Flores will have the opportunity to show at the senior level. Firstly with the senior national team before discovering probably the FA Women’s Super League with Arsenal in a short-term future.
