CONCACAF U20 : Macias on fire, Canada’s qualification hopes end

From 1st to 21st November, the CONCACAF U20 Championship is held in Bradenton (Florida, USA). Thirty-four nations, divided into six groups, take part in a preliminary round. The leader of each group will qualify for a final round where six nations, divided into two groups, will try to clinch one of the four qualifying spots for the U20 World Cup. During the Matchday 4 of the preliminary round, José Macias, seen at the Maurice Revello Tournament 2018, confirmed his good form.

Grenada – Mexico : 0-8

Favorites on paper, the Mexicans hammered their opponent. Once again, José Macias has shone. The Chivas Guadalajara, seen at the Maurice Revello Tournament 2018, netted a brace and he is now the top scorer of the competition with 6 goals scored in 4 games.

Group B : Mexico 10 pts (+19), Jamaica 10 pts (+10), Nicaragua 6 pts,  Aruba 4 pts, Grenada 3 pts, Saint Martin 1 pt.

Cuba – Antigua and Barbuda : 3-0

Defeated by Honduras in their previous game, the Cubans bounced back as they have beaten Antigua and Barbuda. Christian Flores, who played the Maurice Revello Tournament 2017, has scored his first goal since the start of the championship.

Group C : Honduras 12 pts, Cuba 9 pts, Dominican Republic 6 pts,  Antigua and Barbuda 6 pts, Belize 3 pts, Sint Marteen 0 pt.

Canada - Saint-Kitts-et-Nevis : 1-2

Canada’s qualification hopes are ended mathematically as they have suffered a surprising defeat against Saint-Kitts-and-Nevis. The captain Noble Okello and his teammates conceded two goals in the first half and didn’t reversed the trend in the second half.

Group D : Panama 12 pts, Canada 6 pts, Guadeloupe 6 pts, Dominica 6 pts, Martinique 3 pts, Saint-Kitts-and-Nevis 3 pts.
