DPR Korea and Japan secured their World Cup U20 spot in style

After shining at the Sud Ladies Cup 2019, DPR Korea and Japan secured their qualification for the World Cup U20 as they reached the final of the Asian Championship U19 currently held in Thailand. Japanese and North Koreans will battle for the continental title on this Saturday (14:00, French time).

The two top teams of the Sud Ladies Cup 2019 are the best two teams in Asia in their group age. This is not an opinion but a reality. North Koreans and Japanese, respectively champions and runners up of the Sud Ladies Cup 2019, have reached on this week the final of the Asian Championship U19.

After clinching three wins in as many games played during the group stage (wins against Australia, Vietnam and hosts Thailand), DPR Korea extended their winning streak as they earned a 3-1 victory over rivals South Korea.

Japan enjoyed the same run : unstoppable in the group stage (wins against South Korea, China and Myanmar), the Young Nadeshiko hammered Australia (7-0) in the semi-finals !

Thanks to their qualification for the final, DPR Korea and Japan secured their spot for the next World Cup U20 held on July in Nigeria.

We know the identity of eight of the sixteen teams that will line-up at the World Cup U20 : DPR Korea, Japan, Nigeria (hosts), New Zealand (champions of Oceania), France (champions of Europe), Germany, Spain and Netherlands.
