Jô finished as the J-League’s top scorer

Following a fantastic year 2017 marked by a high number of goals and a Brazilian league title clinched with Corinthians, Jô has decided to sign for the Japanese side Nagoya Grampus on January 2018. He joined his new side in a €11M-deal, making him the most expensive player in the league history.

If Nagoya Grampus lived a frustrating campaign, avoiding narrowly the relegation (15th), Jô has enjoyed a fantastic season and has lived up to the expectations.

The former Manchester City striker finished as the J-League’s top scorer as he netted 24 goals in 33 games.
The Brazil international (20 caps, 5 goals), seen at the Maurice Revello Tournament 2004, has notably netted a hat-trick against both Gamba Osaka (3-2) and Urawa Reds (4-1).

The 31-year-old striker continues the tradition of Brazilian players shining in Japan. Before him, some former Brazilian internationals have shone in the Japanese top-flight like Leonardo (Kashima Antlers) and Dunga (Jubilo Iwata).
